Here are the purple pansies in full bloom. Since purple was Cullette's favorite color, of course I chose these.
This is the tree in April 2010. The red bud blooms a bright fuschia pink/purple. The blooms come directly from the branches - not like most blossoms. Red Bud trees are in the peanut family, so the blossoms taste like peanuts- and are edible.
By May the tree is in full leaf. The leaves are heart shaped.
